Smart review sorting automatically shows your most converting reviews at the top of your Reviews Widget. Instead of sorting by date or rating alone, smart sorting utilizes AI to rank review media based on authenticity, clarity, and how well it helps shoppers proceed to checkout.

How does smart review sorting work?
Smart sorting uses AI to evaluate each review and calculates a score, based on quality, authenticity, and usefulness signals. Key factors include::
Media clarity: Good lighting, sharp focus, natural colors, no heavy filters
Product visibility: The product is clearly seen, centered, and easy to identify
Authenticity: Genuine customer feedback
Real people and moments: Humans or pets interacting naturally with the product, visible faces, relatable or emotional moments
Relevance: Reviews that match the product name and category
Helpfulness for other shoppers: Demonstrates product use, before or after results.
Note: Smart review sorting only applies to reviews submitted starting December 2025.
How to enable smart review sorting
Smart review sorting is the default sorting type for merchants on the Convert plan. To change your sorting type:
Go to your Loox admin under "Widgets" and open the Reviews Widget's live editor.
Under “Preferences”, select your preferred sorting option.
Click “Save”.

A: Yes! You can change your sorting anytime directly from your Reviews Widget's live editor.
Q: Do videos always outrank photos?
A: Videos receive a base boost, but a clear, relevant photo can outrank a poor‑quality video.

A: Smart review sorting only impacts the Reviews Widget. Other widgets keep their existing logic and review order.
Q: For reviews with multiple photos, what happens if I change the cover photo?
A: Smart sorting will re-score the review when its cover photo changes.
