Setting your primary language
Before enabling Auto-translate reviews, you need to set a primary language for Loox. This is the default language in which your store operates and serves as the foundation for translation features.
How to set your primary language
- In Loox, go to "Settings" > "General" > "Localization".
Select your primary language from the dropdown menu.
- Click "Save".
Once set, Loox will use this language as the reference point for translating reviews.
Auto-translating reviews
Auto-translating reviews allows customers to read your reviews in their preferred language, no matter what language they were originally written in.
How Auto-translate reviews works
- When enabled, Loox automatically translates reviews into your primary language across Loox widgets on your store
- Auto-translated reviews will appear in the following widgets: Product Reviews Widget, Happy Customers Page, Reviews Sidebar, and Carousel Widgets
To automatically translate your customer reviews to a specific language
- Within "Settings" > "General", go to "Localization".
- Toggle “Auto-translate reviews” on.
That's it! Your customer reviews and replies will now automatically translate to your primary language.
Note: Enabling auto-translate reviews will translate both customer reviews and merchant replies
Using Auto-translate reviews and Multilingual support
Loox’s localization features are designed to complement each other:
- Primary language is the foundation for translation settings
- Auto-translate ensures all reviews are available in one consistent language
- Multilingual Support translates Loox elements (widgets, review forms, emails) to match the customer’s language selection but does not translate reviews
- If both Auto-translate reviews and Multilingual support are enabled, reviews will be translated into the language the customer selects on the storefront
Note: If only Auto-translate is enabled, reviews will be translated into your primary language

Additional information
- When selecting "Chinese" in the store's "Main language" dropdown, Loox will translate reviews to "Simplified Chinese"
- When exporting your customer reviews, the exported CSV file will contain the review text in its original languages
- Once enabled, translated reviews will have a label indicating the customer's original review language. This label can be customized in the Product Reviews Widget editor.
- When Auto-translate review is enabled, Loox translations override translations via the Weglot integration
